ITM , as a leader entity on teaching automotive advanced technologies, has bet on an innovative, creative and dynamic line of advanced education. Consequently, it has incorporated this new official tertiary level course of study to its academic offer. The current course of study was created complying with the Federal Law of Education, and it is oriented to Automotive Design.

Characteristics of the Course of Study

This exciting Course of Study covers technical and artistic disciplines as well, which aim at shaping professionals who will be able to generate advanced designs. This, in turn, establishes the communication between the medium, the objects and the people through the aesthetic, formal, use, economic, technical, social, ergonomic and functional factors.

At present, there is a need to design an infinite number of products as a consequence of the industrial activity, from simple containers to innovative vehicles.

These objects are studied and analyzed by industrial engineers, who synthesize the information coming not only from market research, but also from functional, anatomical, and cultural markets; with the objective to develop and design suitable products which can meet the market expectations.

General objectives of the speciality

The objective of the Higher Technologist Degree on Industrial Design is to train a professional who will be able to design, improve, use, solve and carry out projects of the designing of products in companies and industries. Therefore, his technical processes will range from the planning to the marketing of the products.
Institutionally, this official course of study aims specifically at Automotive Design, approaching Car Designs with the academic depth granted by the Industrial Design.

The Industrial Designer is trained artistically and technically to create, improve and develop products of the industry in general. He contributes to strengthen competitiveness of the national industrial production, through the technological improvement and the quality of design of massive consumption products. The incorporation of languages such as English and Italian to our syllabus opens a range of opportunities, such as the ability to understand technical, literary and journalistic material.

For those who have the vocation for Automotive Design, the scope of the degree on Higher Technologist on Industrial Design, allows the possibility of following speciality university masters abroad, namely on Vehicle Transport Design or other orientations that the wide spectrum of Industrial Design allows.

What is the graduate´s profile?


The Higher Technician on Industrial Design is a professional trained to design innovative products, mastering the complementary tools and their development in the industrial processes.

The graduate will be responsible for the design and development of objects to be produced in series; to be able to do that he must combine the artistic creativity and sensitivity with technical criteria of production and functionality, their costs and productivity, within the frame of the global market competitiveness.

The ITM graduate is especially oriented to the Design of Transport Vehicles.

 

What is the occupational area of the graduate?

The Higher Technician on Industrial Design can perform his profession working as a freelance worker, offering his services to companies or he can work full-time or part-time for a company; in industries or in Design and investigation areas. Besides, he can work in enterprises that specialize in providing this type of service.

The professional graduated as Higher Technician on Industrial Design can perform his activities in the wide industry of the transformation (from little objects of everyday use or for decorative purposes to transport vehicles and their components) depending on the talent and the requirements, local or foreign. Thanks to his wide training, the industrial designer can work in a lot of different fields of the design of products.





CURRICULUM – INDUSTRIAL DESIGN AUTOMOTIVE ORIENTATION

The Technologist degree is done in six four-month-periods of theory and practice with a total number of 1920 hours chair.
Degree: HIGHER TECHNICIAN DEGREE IN INDUSTRIAL DESIGN

The scope of this degree allows to continue post graduate studies in European schools, colleges and universities that offer Industrial Design Masters.
